I have loved getting to know Ophelia’s family, I have been lucky enough to photograph her big sisters newborn photography shoot and first birthday photography shoot, as well as two Christmas shoots, so it was lovely to welcome them back for Ophelia’s newborn photography shoot too!

However we are blessed big sister Kiera is here with us. Kind of a serious post, but things were nearly very different. When their mummy was heavily pregnant they were crossing a zebra crossing, Kiera was on her scooter, and her sensible mummy had a helmet on her. They started crossing, along with another pedestrian. But as they crossed Kiera went a matter of feet ahead. A bus driver decided not to stop, missing Kiera’s heavily pregnant mum and the other pedestrian, but hitting Kiera.
I cannot imagine went through her mum’s head as she was thrown in the air and across the road. Kiera’s helmet literally saved her life. I wont let my own two go out without their helmets on now, much to Mia’s upset. And so glad Kiera is the happy lovely girl shes always been. The bus driver has naturally been charged for not stopping but it could have been so much worse.
Sorry this has a serious nature but if this just makes one more parent make their children wear helmets on scooters it is always worth it.
