Just under 4 weeks ago we welcomed the latest member of the West clan to Julia and Mia headquarters, my very own newborn photography model – Jack.
Now anyone who follows me over on facebook will know we had actually been told we were having a baby girl, so when baby arrived it was a bit of a shock, and cause for a lot of laughter. After all my bag was packed with pretty girls babygros, so he had to be taken home with a pretty pink blanket across him, and we had no clue what his name would be. We enlisted our beautiful big girl, Mia for her help. We told her our shortlist of boys names and let her help us pick, and so we named our surprise baby boy Jack and I think it suits him a lot.
Unfortunately shortly after getting home I felt something was wrong, a combination of mothers instinct and meeting so many gorgeous newborns, and to cut a long story short, shortly after going back to Queens we were rushed into emergency and poor baby Jack had to have an emergency operation. Definitely something to be said for trusting your instincts.
Thankfully after a two week stay in NICU in the Royal London we got to bring him home and he was able to star in his own newborn baby photography shoot at last! Because of his scar we kept him wrapped up, but I think he makes a very cute bundle…
A HUGE thanks to Michelle, for holding the fort and helping me with this shoot as well as being an all round superstar. To my family and friends who frankly Ian and I couldn’t have got through the last few weeks without and most importantly the AMAZING team at the Royal London who quite literally saved Jacks life. Whilst its been a hard few weeks Im feeling pretty lucky right now to have so many great people in our lives (and Jack is very lucky to have you all on his side too). Of course the shoot had to star big sister Mia, but his cousins Annabelle and George got in on the act too!
