What should I wear for my photography shoot?
For a studio shoot, it’s important to consider where you want to show off your images. But equally your personal style and comfort, naturally with newborn shoots you will want to be comfortable. For newborn sessions a lot of my new mums opt for loose white or neutral coloured shirts or loose fitting dresses. But a family session with older children you might want to wear something that show off your best side. Here are some general tips to consider when selecting your outfit:
- Choose solid colors: Solid colors tend to work well in studio shoots as they help to keep the focus on you. Avoid busy patterns or complicated prints that might distract from the main subject. Personally I love neutrals, whites, beiges, creams and greys photograph really well. PAstel tones can often suit others, but if you are a family that loves bright colours embrace it. But avoid patterns and big logos as much as possible
- Dress according to the shoot: Consider the style of the shoot and what you aim to convey through your clothing. Is it a casual lifestyle shoot, or would you prefer something more glam, or something else? What should I wear for my studio photography shoot? For studio shoots most of my families opt for more relaxed casual styling, but you can be glam if you wish. Dress accordingly to match the tone and style of the shoot.
- Wear comfortable clothing: It’s essential to feel comfortable and confident during the shoot, so make sure to wear clothes that fit well and allow you to move freely. This will help you relax and pose naturally in front of the camera.
- Consider your personal style: Choose outfits that align with your personal taste and style. This will help showcase your authentic self in the photos and make you feel more confident during the shoot.
- Avoid distracting accessories: While accessories can add interest to your outfit, avoid wearing anything too flashy or distracting. Opt for simple and minimalistic accessories that complement your look without overpowering it.
